Last updated: September 28, 2026

This policy explains what information Eco and Pine (ecoandpine.com) collects when you visit, why, and the choices you have. Eco and Pine is a blog run by Josh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Eco and Pine.

The short version

  • You can read every post without giving us your name or email.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and Google AdSense to show ads. Both use cookies.
  • Some links go to Amazon. If you click one, Amazon may set a cookie so we get credit for the sale.
  • We never sell your name or email address.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.

Information we collect

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and the tools below record basic technical details when you visit. These include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the site that sent you here, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the site running, secure, and fast, and to see which guides are useful.

Information you give us

  • Email. If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply.
  • Email list. If you sign up for our email list, your email address is stored by the email service we use. We use it only to send new guides and site updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Comments. Comments are currently turned off. If you left a comment in the past, we kept the name, email, website, and comment text you entered, plus your IP address and browser details to help filter spam.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. We and our partners use them for these purposes:

  • Analytics, to count visits and see which pages people read (Google Analytics).
  • Advertising, to show ads and measure how they perform (Google AdSense).
  • Affiliate tracking, to credit us when you buy through an Amazon link (Amazon Associates).
  • Security, to protect the site from attacks and spam (Wordfence).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, but some features, like ads that match your interests, won’t.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the general area you’re in, based on your IP address. We don’t use it to identify you personally. You can read how Google uses this data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site and other websites.
  • Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can turn off personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

If you’re in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you’ll be asked for your consent before personalized ads are shown.

Affiliate links and Amazon

Eco and Pine is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click an Amazon link on this site, Amazon may set a cookie in your browser to record that you came from Eco and Pine. We don’t see your name, address, or what else you buy. Amazon handles that data under the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Security

We use Wordfence to protect the site from hacking attempts and spam. To do this, Wordfence records IP addresses and checks them against a list of known threats. You can read the Wordfence privacy policy.

Hosting

This site is hosted by Hostinger. It uses Hostinger’s content delivery network and LiteSpeed caching to load pages faster. Hostinger processes basic technical information, like IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. You can read the Hostinger privacy policy.

We only share information with the services named on this page, and only so they can do the jobs described here. We don’t sell your name or email address. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect the site and its visitors.

  • Email list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Past comments: until you ask us to remove them.
  • Analytics and advertising data: kept by Google under its own retention settings.
